Cole thompson photography

COLE THOMPSON - BLACK AND WHITE MANIPULATED IMAGES.

i like the image to the left because i like how the image is really dark but has the white cloud above, i like how it is obviously been manipulated to make it darker and that the little bit of light above the mountains. I like how clear it is and that you can see all the detail in the cloud and in the mountains. This is a very nice image which would inspire me to do black and white images.

i like this image to the above to the right also because i like how it has been edited. i like how the man looks like his hair is blowing in the wind and that the bridge that he is standing on goes far back behind him as it gets smaller it gives it great effect. i also like how it is dark along the outsides then gets lighter in the middle towards the man.

i like the image below because i like how the clouds are bright and dark and look like they are moving fast. this is the main thing in the image. I like how the stones are dark and the lighting on them gives them great effect.
and i also like the cat image because i like how clear it is and that it is a close up and you can see the whiskers and the fur really clearly. i like how it is black and white, it gives it great effect!

Cole thompson is a fine art photographer, lives in Rochester in NY. Thompson does her images in black and white, This is because it makes the images dark and contrasty which form the basis and inspiration for my photographs. Darkness in the images represents the trials of he human existence while the light represents the strength and power that comes from the realization that we are the captions of our souls. He takes his images in black and white also because he grew up in a black and white world, the televisions were black and white, movies, and also newspapers. Her heros were in black and white. She was inspired by Adams, Weston, Bullock and others. He knew straight away this is what he wanted to be like.

EVALUATION AND COMPARING MY WORK

- the original image
comparing my work - mine and the original image are the same because they are both in black and white and have the pupil part of the eye in colour, this makes it eye-catching and stand out better. Both mine and the original are individual images and are both large files. They both send the same message however because her pupils bigger then the original this could send a different message across. They are both the same subject because i tryed to make it as similar as possible. The lighting is pretty similar because they both look like they have been done in the studio with studio lighting. i used a macro lens to make it zoomed in to get every detail clear and not blurry. Both the images have been edited.

                                                                                      Below - my image
EVALUATION-
Overall i am pleased with my work as i think it has worked well. I think it was a really hard thing to do because it was hard to keep looking at the original image and trying to make it the same as. It was hard to make the same angle and the lighting the same. If i was to do something different i would of thought better about my image which to do, i picked mine within like 10 minutes and just decided to do it. i picked about 3 before but decided to do this one as it looked the easiest but wasn't. i would choose a easier one next time. And i would try and get her pupil smaller if i was too do it again. i also found this task hard how it was hard to edit it in photoshop because again i kept looking at the original and making the brightness the same. I liked doing this task as it was interesting to see if you could get it the same angel, lighting etc...
i did my image in the studio, using studio lighting and i think this worked pretty well. so overall i am pleased with my final outcome.

reproducing a image.

today we were asked to reproduce a image of our choice. I decided to do an eye. The image to the right (above) is the original image which i decided to reproduce. and the image below that one is the one i produced. This image was pretty hard too do. I took them in the studio and took about 15 pictures to get the right one. I decided to do one of an eye because i thought it would be easiest but it turned out to be quite tricky because you've got to think of the shape, the colour, the structure.
I edited my image using photoshop, which went really well. The only annoying thing is that the pupils were not the same, on my image they were alot bigger then the original image.

Hand Painted images

Hand painted images refers to any method of manually adding colour to a black and white image. Hand coloring is also known as hand painting or overpainting. Watercolorsoilscrayons or pastels, and other paints or dyes are applied to the image surface using brushes, fingers, cotton swabs or airbrushes

Our task today was to go out and take a photograph of one of our friends full body with a interesting background behind them. Then we were asked to tun this black and white using photoshop, so we could paint onto it changing the colors and making the image as bright and colorful as possible.
The idea of this was because in the olden times when colour didn't exist this is what people did to make it colorful, they would print there image black and white them paint over it.
